Social Media Awareness

Young people spend a lot of time on social media. They're also more susceptible to peer pressure, low self-esteem and mental ill-health. A number of studies have found associations between increased social media use and depression, anxiety, sleep problems, eating concerns, and suicide risk. Most of the discipline and bullying issues in schools are starting on social media. The District has partnered with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office to provide training for parents and students. 
 
The  Californian Department of Education has compiled the following resources, including community-based organizations, that provide support to youth who have been subjected to school-based discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying and to their families.
